Managing one or two credit cards might be straightforward with your bank’s app, especially if your credit card is from the same bank as your savings account, allowing you to set up auto-debit for automatic monthly payments. However, things get complicated when you need to manage multiple credit cards, and that’s when you’ll start looking for specialized credit card bill payment apps.
This list has been updated for October 2024.
Key Criteria for Choosing a Credit Card Bill Payment App
Now, the main criteria to look for in credit card bill payment apps are:
- Reliability: Will the payment go through every single time? Is it quick enough?
- Rewards: Do you earn cashback or rewards for paying your credit card bill?
- Fees: Are there any hidden charges or processing fees?
- Compatibility: Does the app support all your credit cards, especially if they’re from different banks?
- Security: Is it secure enough to store your financial information?
Based on these questions, I curated a list of the best credit card bill payment apps, including some I personally use. Keep reading to find out more!
1. CRED App

CRED has gained popularity in India, largely due to its extensive marketing efforts. In my opinion, the app is indeed one of the best. I pay all my credit card bills through it, and they’re usually paid instantly. On days when it takes longer, it’s still completed within a few hours.
Even when a payment didn’t go through (which happened once in the last 12 months), the refund was processed within a day. There was also a time when SBI Card rejected the payment because it exceeded the total outstanding amount, and I received a refund within 48 hours.
CRED used to offer high cashback and rewards on bill payments, but that’s no longer the case. Now, the most you can get is ₹1–10, so don’t expect much in terms of rewards or cashback. However, there are still some offers available on UPI payments.
CRED offers automatic bill reminders to help you pay your credit card bills on time. You also get alerts for hidden charges if any are included in your statement. However, I’d recommend against linking your Gmail account for this (or any third-party app, though the choice is yours). `A better option is to create a separate email account specifically for credit card statements. Connect that email to CRED and forward your statements there as you receive them. You can even set up an auto-forward rule for added convenience.
In addition to credit card payments, you can make UPI payments, pay utility bills, and recharge your mobile. You can also add vehicle details to track challan, PUC, and insurance status, as well as pay rent. Plus, it supports tap-to-pay via credit card if your phone has NFC, and they have their own CRED Store for online shopping.
Pros
- Reliable and instant credit card bill payments
- Automatic bill tracking and reminders
- Modern and intuitive UI
Cons
- Prompts for full email access (avoid granting this)
- Bill payment rewards have diminished over time
- Not the most privacy-friendly app
- Cashback: Up to 5 scratch cards for payments above ₹1000, gives generally around ₹1–10.
- Payment options: UPI, Net Banking, and Debit Card (for amount above ₹50,000).
- Reason to use: Automatic bill tracking and timely payment reminders.
2. Amazon Pay

Amazon is my next favourite app for paying credit card bills. Though primarily a shopping app, it has an Amazon Pay section where you can make recharges, utility, and other bill payments, including credit card payments. For obvious reasons, it’s very simple and only lets you pay bills, without features like tracking statements or sending reminders.
You can pay your credit card bills using UPI (and no, you cannot use your Amazon Pay Balance). Amazon occasionally runs cashback offers on credit card bill payments, but they’re rare.
The best part of using Amazon to pay your credit card bills is the customer service. If you face any issues, you can easily start a live chat or request a quick callback from customer care to get the problem resolved. It’s also one of the most trusted apps on this list.
Pros
- A very trusted and reliable app
- Timely credit card bill payments
- Great customer support
Cons
- No additional features like automatic bill tracking or payment reminders
- UI isn’t as intuitive as other apps
- Cashback: Occasional offers like “Earn up to ₹45 back on payments above ₹1000.”
- Payment options: UPI, Net Banking, and Prepaid/ Debit Cards.
- Reason to use: “Just works,” and great customer service.
3. Paytm

Paytm is another excellent app for paying your credit card bills. Most payments are processed instantly, similar to CRED. It also supports automatic bill tracking and sends reminders by reading your SMS. However, it lacks features like tracking your card statement via email.
You can add your credit card by simply entering the last four digits of your card and the mobile number linked to your bank. It’s that easy. This allows Paytm to fetch your bills and remind you whenever a payment is due.
If you’re a regular Paytm user, you’re unlikely to miss your bill payments, as reminders appear directly on the app’s home page. There are various offers, such as flight vouchers, Amazon vouchers, Paytm cashback, and more for bill payments, but be sure to check the terms and conditions of each offer.
Pros
- Fast bill payments
- Timely reminders
- Occasionally good offers
Cons
- Lacks detailed statement tracking
- Cluttered UI
- Cashback: Flight vouchers, Amazon Prime vouchers, and Paytm cashback on bill payments.
- Payment Options: UPI, Net Banking, and Prepaid/Debit Cards.
- Reasons to Use: Ideal if you’re a Paytm user or seeking a CRED alternative for payments via debit card.
4. PhonePe

PhonePe is very similar to Paytm when it comes to credit card payments. You can enter the last four digits of your card number and the mobile number linked to your credit card. This allows PhonePe to store your bill details, fetch current and future bills, and send you reminders.
It also tracks your credit card bills through SMS if you allow it. Payments are mostly instant but may take about 30 minutes to reflect in your account. You can pay the bill via UPI or debit card, but there’s no option for net banking yet.
Unlike other apps, it doesn’t offer any fancy rewards or cashback for payments, but overall, it’s a very simple and reliable app for paying your credit card bills on time. Depending on whether you use PhonePe or Paytm for regular payments, choose whichever suits you best.
Pros
- Fast bill payments
- Timely reminders
- Intuitive UI
Cons
- No rewards on paying credit card bills
- Lacks detailed statement tracking
- Cashback: Nil
- Payment Options: UPI and debit cards.
- Reasons to Use: Ideal if you’re a regular PhonePe user and do not care about rewards.
5. CheQ

CheQ is the closest alternative to CRED for credit card bill payments. It can automatically track your outstanding balance through SMS and can connect to your Gmail account to track card statements as they arrive. Not only does the app remind you, but you also get reminders on WhatsApp (if you opt in).
CheQ rewards you with 1% CheQ chips for paying bills, similar to how CRED gives coins—except with one key difference: they’re actually useful. The value of a CheQ chip depends on what you’re redeeming it for. For gift cards from Amazon and Flipkart, 1 chip = ₹0.10, while for Myntra, it’s ₹4. Other deals include redeeming chips for discounts on food and other supported partners.
CheQ also has a “refer and earn” program like CRED. In addition to credit card payments, you can use the app to pay your home rent, school fees, and other education- or rent-related payments. My only issue with the app is that it requires mandatory SMS access, and credit card payments sometimes take longer than expected.
Pros
- Automated statement tracking via email
- Reminders on WhatsApp
- Rewards in form of CheQ chips
Cons
- Requires mandatory SMS access
- Bill payments may can take 48-72 hours
- Cashback: 1% CheQ chips, redeemable at rates ranging from 1 chip = ₹0.10 to ₹4.
- Payment Options: UPI and debit cards.
- Reasons to Use: Ideal if your priority is earning good cashback for credit card bill payments.
6. INDMoney

INDMoney, which initially gained popularity for enabling investments in US stocks from India, later expanded to Indian stocks and mutual funds. Now, it offers a wide range of fintech services, including health and life insurance, and of course, credit card bill payments.
The only caveat is that the app requires you to connect your Gmail account to automatically track your credit card statements. This could be a privacy concern for some, so I’d recommend creating a new email account and using the trick I mentioned earlier for the CRED app.
INDMoney offers up to ₹1000 cashback for paying credit card bills, with many users reporting cashback amounts of ₹100–200. This cashback can be used toward your next credit card bill. It certainly provides more cashback than the CRED app for paying your bills.
However, it’s worth noting that payments can take 1-4 days to reflect, so avoid making last-minute payments through INDMoney.
Pros
- Higher cashback than CRED app
- Automatic tracking of card statement
Cons
- Mandatorily requires connecting email account
- Slow processing; can take 1-4 days to reflect bill payments
- Cashback: Up to ₹1000, typically 0.2–1% of the bill amount.
- Payment Options: UPI and debit cards.
- Reasons to Use: CRED-like email statement tracking with better cashback, comparable to the CheQ app.
7. Mobikwik

Mobikwik is an underrated app for paying your credit card bills. It offers a flat ₹100 for your first credit card payment and 1% cashback when you pay your bill in full. The cashback is credited to your Mobikwik wallet and can be redeemed directly to your bank account.
To make a card payment, enter the full card number, apply any available coupons, and then pay using UPI, a debit card, or your Mobikwik wallet. A great feature is that you can first load your Mobikwik wallet using a debit or credit card that offers good baseline cashback, and then use it to pay your credit card bills.
A user on Reddit claimed to have received about 3.75% cashback by loading his wallet first with a BOB Eterna credit card and then making payments. Check it out if you’re interested in optimizing your credit card payments for the best cashback rates.
Pros
- Good cashback and offers on paying credit card bills
- Instant settlement for all credit cards
Cons
- Cashback arrives in your Mobikwik wallet which requires KYC
- Automatic bill tracking isn’t very reliable
- Cashback: Up to 1% of the bill amount.
- Payment Options: UPI, debit cards, and Mobikwik wallet.
- Reasons to Use: Ideal if your priority is adding funds to your wallet through a debit card and making credit card bill payments for rewards.
8. HDFC PayZapp

PayZapp is HDFC Bank’s official app for various bill payments, including mobile recharges, FASTag, DTC, gas, electricity, and more. Additionally, you can pay your credit card bills using either UPI or a debit card.
While there aren’t substantial offers, the app does provide some cashback in cash or cash points for bills paid above certain amounts. For instance, at the time of writing, it offers 11 cash points for payments above ₹5,000 and ₹25 for bill payments exceeding ₹25,000. Although this isn’t a great rate, it’s worth noting that cashback isn’t the app’s main selling point.
Bill payments are instant and 100% secure, as they come straight from India’s largest private bank. So, if you’re looking for a fast and safe credit card bill payment app—especially if you have HDFC cards—this is it.
Pros
- Safe, reliable, and 100% secure app
- Instant credit card bill payments
Cons
- Cannot track your credit card statements
- Cashback: ₹11 for payments above ₹5,000 and ₹25 for bill payments exceeding ₹25,000.
- Payment Options: UPI and debit cards.
- Reasons to Use: Instant payment settlement and data safety.
What’s the Best Credit Card App for You?
Picking the right credit card bill payment app depends on what you need. If you want quick payments and good service, apps like CRED and Paytm are solid choices. Amazon Pay is great for customer support, while PhonePe is simple and easy to use.
If you’re looking to earn rewards, CheQ and Mobikwik offer good cashback deals, making them appealing options. For a more complete finance app, INDMoney provides extra features beyond bill payments and offers decent cashback, though it may require connecting your email. HDFC PayZapp is perfect for secure payments and fast processing.
Before you decide, think about how often you use your credit cards, whether you want reminders and tracking, and if you prefer an easy payment method or extra features. Take the time to check out each app; finding the right one can make managing your credit card payments much easier and part of your monthly routine.
